Meet our Executive Team

Laila Lawton – Chief Financial Officer

Laila is Chief Financial Officer at Barnsley College. She has strategic responsibility for the College’s finances, cash flows, property portfolio and capital investment programme. In addition, Laila is the executive lead for the sustainability strategy – having strategic responsibility over the College’s goal to reach net zero, and ensuring the success of its various sustainability initiatives and investments across the estate.

Laila joined the College in 2010 and has held various posts since then, including Director of Finance, until she became a member of the Executive team in 2015.

A Chartered Management Accountant, Laila worked in audit and financial management across a range of private sector businesses before entering further education. Laila lives in Barnsley and is an alumna of the College. She studied mathematics, business and accounting A Levels at the College, before joining a local audit firm to pursue a career in accountancy.
